2016 Derby Trainers’ Dinner raises over $19,000

Net proceeds from the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association’s 2016 Derby Trainers’ Dinner, held in Louisville on May 3rd, raised $19,098.00 for two charities located on the backside of Churchill Downs Racetrack, the Backside Learning Center and The Healing Place at Churchill Downs.

“On behalf of the hundreds of workers on the backside of Churchill Downs race track who are served each year by the Backside Learning Center, we would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association.  Thanks to the KTA the Backside Learning Center will be able to expand both educational and social services for backside workers and their children this year. Thank you!” Sherry Stanley, Director of The Backside Learning Center

We are very grateful to the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association for their support of The Healing Place and the Lifestyle Program at Churchill Downs. This investment from the racing community will help The Healing Place continue to provide drug and alcohol recovery information, intervention and support to workers and families of the backside of Churchill Downs.   We look forward to an ongoing relationship between The Healing Place, Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association. Karyn Hascal, President of The Healing Place
