Founded in 1998, the College’s equine center is still young and growing. Located two miles from the main campus, it overlooks the Palisades and the Kentucky River. With its location in central Kentucky, the diversity of learning, hands-on training, range of opportunities and job placement are just a phone call away. All areas of the horse industry are covered within the Equine Management studies, but our main focus of the Asbury College Equine Program is ministry: God and horses in one place.
Georgetown College Equine Scholars Program
The Equine Scholars Program (ESP) at Georgetwon College is geared to offer students a first class education at a nationally ranked liberal arts college while introducing them to all facets of the equine industry.
Formerly Darley Flying Start was founded in 2003 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of Dubai. Darley Flying Start is an innovative International management training programme for the Thoroughbred industry.
Horse Farm Workers’ Educational Assistance Fund
The Horse Farm Workers’ Educational Assistance Fund was created in 1994 to address a need that was not being met by any other horsemen’s group. The Fund’s founders believe that giving educational and life skills assistance to dedicated farm employees who provide daily care for thoroughbreds makes more than humanitarian sense. It also makes practical sense by providing a meaningful employment incentive and by increasing on-the-job effectiveness and overall industry productivity.
Midway College boasts a long tradition of excellence in equine education with degrees designed to prepare students for leadership in the equine industry.
Morehead State University Murray State University
The University offers a diversified program in the area of Animal/Equine Science, with the option to focus more intensely on a student’s particular avenue of interest. Students enrolled in the Animal/Equine Science program may choose to focus on Animal or Equine Science.
The North American Racing Academy is the brainchild of Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron. As founder of NARA, Chris will share his knowledge, skills and expertise with students to help produce the best race riders possible.
The Race For Education is a national education scholarship foundation funded by various parties related to or with an interest in the Thoroughbred racing industry. It is a nonprofit 501(C) (3) organization established to improve the quality of life for young people through education, attract younger, better educated individuals to careers in the Thoroughbred industry and help establish the racing industry as a good citizen in the community.
The Race Track Industry Program (RTIP) at the University of Arizona is the only program of its kind. We offer two paths based on student interest. The Business Path prepares students for employment in the areas of race track management, regulation and pari-mutuel racing organizations. The Equine Management Path prepares students for employment in the areas dealing with racing and breeding animals.
University of Kentucky Equine Initiative
This degree program is comprised of two tracks – an equine management option that focuses on management of the horse and farm enterprise and an equine business option that focuses on business and organization management within the industry.
There is no educational opportunity in North America quite like the Equine Industry Program offered by the University of Louisville’s College of Business. Equine majors take the entire business administration core, as well as 30 hours of specialized courses in the business of horses. UofL is located in the heart of horse country, permitting classroom instruction to be supplemented with field trips, prominent guest lecturers, and internships.
