Juddmonte Farms’ Kentucky-bred Laurel River dominated an international field in recording a front-running victory in the Burj Nahaar Stakes (G3) at Meydan in Dubai on Super Saturday, March 2.

Drawn wide in post No. 14, Laurel River appeared full of run at every stage of the one-mile fixture. He turned for home with an imposing lead and crossed the wire as much the best, scoring by 6 ¾ lengths in the end for trainer Bhupat Seemar. With the win, accomplished in the time of 1:36.90, he improved his lifetime record to 9-5-1-0, and he has now amassed earnings of $510,676. Fellow Kentucky-bred Qareeb, a son of Speightstown, finished second in the Burj Nahaar, and Kentucky-bred Everfast, a son of Take charge Indy, rounded out the top placings in third.

A 6-year-old son of Into Mischief, Laurel River captured the 2022 Pat O’Brien Stakes (G2) at Del Mar when he was trained by Bob Baffert. He also placed in the 2021 Laz Barrera Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita. The accomplished veteran is produced from the Empire Maker mare Calm Water. He is bred on the same cross as Juddmonte’s Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mandaloun.
