Kentucky-bred Lighthouse, who has hit the ground running since shipping to Australia toward the end of the season last year, registered the first Group 1 of her career in the Coolmore Classic (G1) at Rosehill in Australia on Saturday, March 12.
Ridden by Jason Collett and trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Lighthouse raced in third with a quarter-mile left to travel. She grabbed the lead in the final sixteenth and scored by about two lengths in the end. The 5-year-old mare by Mizzen Mast is campaigned by the LNJ Foxwoods Stable of Larry, Nancy, and Jaime Roth. Trainer Simon Callaghan trained Lighthouse in the U.S., where she annexed the $400,000 Music City Stakes at Kentucky Downs in 2020.
Bred in the Bluegrass by David Chavez Jr., Lighthouse is produced from the North Light (IRE) mare More Hoping. She is now a winner in 8-of-17 career starts and has banked $973,383. She has also finished second in the C.F. Orr Stakes at seven furlongs at Caulfield Feb. 12 and in the Canterbury Stakes at Randwick on March 5. She is under consideration for the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes at Randwick on April 9. Lighthouse was a $375,000 purchase by Solis/Litt out of the consignment of Randy Miles at the 2019 OBS Spring Sale.
