Kentucky-bred She Feels Pretty powered through the stretch under jockey John Velazquez to prove best by 4 ¼ lengths in the $500,000 Natalma S. (G1) at Woodbine on Saturday, Sept. 16. With the romping victory, She Feels Pretty earned a fees-paid berth in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) in November. The win also provided trainer Cherie DeVaux with her initial Grade 1 score.

Owned by Lael Stable, She Feels Pretty rated toward the back of the pack early after getting bumped at the break. She settled into stride off the pace and advanced on the outside into the far turn. She struck the lead near the three-sixteenths, and kicked clear late, covering the mile on good turf in 1:35.34.

“I was very confident, I got to say she was feeling very confident,” said Velazquez. “I made sure I put her in a good position. When we turned for home, I moved her to the clear and her ears went up. The way she did it was very impressive.”

Bred in Kentucky by Payson Stud, She Feels Pretty was a $240,000 graduate of the Keeneland September Sale in 2022. Unbeaten in her two career starts, She Feels Pretty has now banked $262,379 in her two lifetime starts. She Feels Pretty is by Karakontie (JPN) and is out of the More Than Ready mare Summer Sweet.
