Kentucky-bred Mystic Guide crushed his competition in the $12,000,000 Dubai World Cup (G1) at Meydan on March 27, defeating an accomplished international field by 3 ¾ lengths. With the impressive win, the Godolphin homebred son of Ghostzapper remained perfect on the year after romping to victory in the Razorback H. (G3) at Oaklawn Park in his seasonal bow on Feb. 27.

Ridden by Luis Saez, Mystic Guide enjoyed a clean trip throughout the about 1 ¼-mile journey. He opened up on his rivals in the lane and won as he pleased, getting the distance in 2:01.61 for trainer Michael Stidham. Japan’s Chuwa Wizard (JPN) finished a distant second, and fellow Kentucky-bred but French-raced Magny Cours checked in third for Godolphin.

It was the initial Grade 1 victory for Mystic Guide who finished second in last year’s Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) and won the 2020 Jim Dandy S. (G2). The Dubai World Cup triumph, which provided his owner a record 9th win in the race, improved Mystic Guide’s overall record to 8-4-2-2 and increased his bankroll to $7,513,200.

Mystic Guide is produced from the multiple Grade 1-winning A.P. Indy mare Music Note. A brilliant race mare, Music Note, in 2008, captured the Mother Goose S. (G1), Coaching Club American Oaks, and the Gazelle S. (G1). The following season, she added victories in the Ballerina S. (G1) and the Beldame S. (G1) en route to career earnings of $1,615,000 for Godolphin.
